Ironsteak has a location in Seattle’s Chinatown-International District. I’ve been to that one over the years. Recently, Ironsteak opened a location in Redmond and invited my Seattle Foodie Podcast co-host Nelson Lau and I over to try the food. The storefront is located in an unassuming strip mall with plenty of parking.

Each bowl is highly customized, which is great news for people with allergies or other dietary needs. You pick a base bowl and add on what you like. I had the sirloin steak with mushrooms. The owner Maggie recommended the housemade kim chi and broccoli to go with it. When the food came, she let me know that the yuzu garlic sauce would pair well with the dish. She was right! When they bring the sizzle plate, it’s quite hot so be careful. As the meat cooks, begin mixing everything together and add the sauce so it covers everything. The experience is a warm, filling meal with tons of flavor! Nelson had the surf and turf.

We also had an order of honey glazed wings. They were fried crisp and served with lemon for a citrus “pop!”

I was excited to see that they serve the Iron Sundae here. It’s one of my favorite desserts! I even went to the Chinatown location on my birthday to have this! It’s pound cake topped with ice cream, whipped cream, and a cherry. They bring a hot plate, pour the sauce over it, and it caramelizes in the pan! It’s so good and I’m always so excited I almost always burn my tongue! Remember, it’s hot and cold at the same time but the contrast is amazing!!!

The two locations have very similar menus but they run some specials in Redmond that won’t be in Chinatown. If you’re in the area, stop by and give it a try! Thanks to Ironsteak Redmond for hosting us!
