The Dolar Shop Makes My Hotpot Dreams Come True

The Dolar Shop is a Chinese hot pot restaurant in Bellevue that is wildly popular. When it opened earlier this year, it was hard to get a table and it still is at times. To say The Dolar Shop is “upscale” is an understatement. You get what you pay for and the food is luxurious. Recently, my Seattle Foodie Podcast co-host Nelson Lau and I visited for a one-of-a-kind dining experience!

Bellevue Storefront

The Dolar Shop has a lovely selection of beverages to choose from. Nelson and I opted for non-alcoholic watermelon juice and kumquat lemonade. I was in love with my drink! It was sweet and sour in all the right places. It was refreshing and perfect for a summer day.

With hot pot, you choose your broth, proteins, vegetables, sauces, and other add-ons. Everything is brought to the table. After your broth is boiling, you add whatever you would like to your individual bowls, boil, and eat. The servers will let you know about cooking times.

For broth, I got the spare rib broth and Nelson got the tomato and oxtail broth. I’ve had the pork bone broth before and I think that’s still my favorite!

The Spread

Our meat selection included a wagyu plate and the selected beef platter. We also ordered the deluxe seafood platter, pork wonton, s.a. balls, and a platter of mixed balls. I had to get an order of hand crafted noodles and I ate all of it – no sharing! For veggies, we got a mixed mushroom basket and a veggie basket.

The Dolar Shop is well-known for an extensive sauce bar. There’s also a few snacks and fruits there as well. The sauce bar comes at an additional cost of $3.99 per person.

Spot Prawns

We ended the night with complimentary ice cream cones. They’re the perfect way to end a filling meal.

The food was impeccable and service exceptional! The complex broths are the perfect base for hearty ingredients. The ingredients were of the highest quality. I can’t say enough about how lovely it is to dine here. Whether you’re in a large group or just two of you, it’s sure to be a great night! Many thanks to The Dolar Shop for hosting, for the servers, and to the Manager David.
