Family owned Nutty Squirrel Gelato and Fainting Goat Gelato have been working together behind the scenes to deliver authentic, Italian-inspired gelato. Two generations of families have joined forces to expand and offer a full line of bakery items for a European Pasticerria experience! With five locations in the greater Seattle area, these companies are already well-known for their made-from-scratch gelato.

In mid-October, I was invited to a preview to celebrate and sample the sweets at the Nutty Squirrel headquarters in Magnolia. I was excited for a chance to try upcoming holiday and seasonal flavors, along with traditional European bakery items that have since launched to the general public.
The evening began with lovely prosecco and meeting co-owner and Gelato Master Tolga Seymen. Tolga is so passionate about his craft! He gave us an in-depth look at the flavors in the case, describing each and letting us sample. From there, he took us on the tour of the kitchen, explaining the process along the way. Finally, he handed us off to his friendly staff to grab us items we wanted to try.

Generally, I steer away from fruit flavors. On this visit, I couldn’t resist the sorbetto and pelligrino. I chose tangerine and raspberry agave as my base. Literally, it was like the first time I’ve tasted tangerine! The depth of flavor can’t be put into words. Combined with a scoop of raspberry agave, the flavors balanced and melded into one delicious bite! The pelligrino added the perfect carbonation to an already tasty treat.
I tried so many baked goods it was hard to keep track of them all! The offerings included croissants, lava cakes, macarons, pistachio horns, panna cotta, tiramisu, and more!
Part of a great experience is having people to share it with. A lot of folks brought their kids and there’s nothing like seeing the world through the eyes of a child. We were enjoying the treats but seeing kids enjoy it was so much fun! Special thanks to Nutty Squirrel Gelato and Fainting Goat Gelato for a fun and delicious evening! I’m looking forward to visiting one of your five locations again soon!
