Dinner at Fiasco

The restaurant formerly known as Thackeray is now Fiasco. The emphasis is on pasta, wine, pizza, and takeaway. Fiasco shares space with Claret Wine Bar where you can discover new wines and even purchase a bottle to go with your dinner or to take home. Recently, my Seattle Foodie Podcast co-host Nelson Lau and I had a chance to stop by to try some of the food with our friends @annie_eatsfood and @emeraldcityeater.

Fiasco

The restaurant offers a nice selection of sophisticated cocktails. When we visited, I was feeling like a mocktail so I asked them to make me something. They brought me a refreshing blood orange concoction that hit the spot on a warm spring evening! I’m a firm believer that restaurants should have both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.

Cocktails

We were there for a few hours and saw a moderate crowd turn into a busy one. People were laughing, enjoying food, and although it was too cold at the time to sit outside, I can see that being a popular option this summer!

Dinner spread

The pastas were cooked al dente and topped with classic sauce preparations. The pizza crust was just right and although I’m not a fan of gorgonzola, the flavor went well with the other pizza ingredients. The menu offered surprises like my favorite chunky avocado frisée, a light spring dish with crispy quinoa, shallot, basil, cucumber, pepitas, and champagne vinaigrette. I guarantee that if you saw me on the street and asked me about Fiasco, the words “avocado frisée” would enthusiastically come out of my mouth!

I’m also a fan of charred broccolini. The char was on point and it was seasoned with roasted garlic, parmigiano-reggiano, breadcrumbs, and chile flakes. The savory flavors with a bit of spice makes a perfect side dish! Unfortunately, I was so busy eating this that I didn’t get a picture.

Dessert

For dessert, the tiramisu ladyfinger stole the show. I’m usually not a fan of tiramisu because it is often too boozy for me. This one surprised me with light flavors that I welcomed after a filling meal. The perfect-sized zeppoli was light and tasty. The blackberry sorbet, courtesy of Gelatiamo, was refreshing! I apologize for the quality of the dessert shots – the lighting became an issue at dusk.

I love that Fiasco has a welcoming space that I could hang out at for hours. Offering more takeaway options for food is also a good thing for our busy lives. Special thanks to Fiasco for hosting our dinner! It was a memorable evening filled with delicious memories!
