Colorful Bowls from Just Poké

Since 2016, Just Poké has been serving up poke bowls in the area. I’m from Hawaii and I’ve been eating poke for as long as I can remember. Just Poké offers their take on poke using fresh, sustainable sushi grade fish which is not marinated by design. You can choose one of their combos or customize your own bowl.

I was invited by Tiffany Zhang to visit Just Poké’s Bellevue location with my Seattle Foodie Podcast co-host Nelson Lau and friend @emeraldcityeater.

Not all poke restaurants are created equal. I go to different places for different things. If you are looking for authentic Hawaiian poke, this is not the place. One isn’t better than the other; they’re just different. I love these types of poke bowls because it’s something I didn’t have growing up in Hawaii. We ate poke and rice. That’s it. I love the vibrant colors and textures of these bowls.

All our tuna is line caught by hand from the Pacific Ocean and is rated #1 USA Sashimi Grade. The standards and specs of our tuna exceed USFDA standards and are triple graded – on boat, at port, and at facility. This can only be done if tuna is processed fresh. The methods used for catching tuna are dolphin, sea turtle & sea mammal safe.

Eating food is something that I love. Learning about the heart of a business is something I love even more. Every business owner has an origin story that is rooted in their personal journey. My impression of Just Poké is that they are invested in community as evidenced by their partnership with local vendors and commitment to a clean environment.

I love a good sauce, don’t you? I got to sample pretty much every sauce they have. My overall favorite is the Thai chili sauce which isn’t a traditional flavor for poke but it was spicy and delicious! Other favorites include the spicy aioli, truffle garlic aioli, and roasted sesame.

If seafood is not for you, Just Poké offers an Evergreen bowl. It’s composed of roasted sweet potato, organic tofu, cucumber, sweet onion, roasted sesame, cucumber salad, and sesame seeds.
